Wednesday is donut day in our family so on the way home tonight I stopped at Krogers to buy half a dozen donuts. At, as it turned out, 50 cents a piece (plus tax).Usually I would just go mindlessly on my way but it struck me: These are just a little blob of dough fried in fat then doused in some form of sugar. And they're mass produced, hundreds at a time, which should drive down the price further. How does that amount to 50 cents? Ten cents tops, I'd say. Kroger is enjoying a 500% mark up!
Awww, but I could never argue with you... sweet, sweet donut...
